Effect of Cold Deformation on Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of Commercially Pure Grade 4 Titanium Strip

The microstructure and mechanical behavior of commercially pure grade 4 (Gr.4) titanium strips with different deformations were studied by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission (TEM), uniaxial tensile test, hardness test. work-hardening characteristics a Gr.4 strip analyzed true-stress–strain curve. results show that cold deformation can significantly improve the strength strip, which has significant work hardening characteristics. With increase in amount, grain is stretched into fibrous shape along longitudinal direction, while plasticity decreases. Moreover, there linear relationship between hardness. true-stress–true-strain curves states combining three models. It was found curve an annealed be regressed Ludwigson, Voce, Swift models, Ludwigson model higher fitting accuracy, after are not ideal. mechanism mainly based on slippage, dislocation density tanglement leading to during deformation.
